It may also be the CDI, just thought I'd point that out. So be prepared to change one or the other, or possibly both.

Oil leak on to exhaust

I'm a newbie and fascinated with your replies and also have a question. I have an oil leak dripping down on my exhaust on my 2004 king quad 300 and wondering if i need to take the fuel tank off to see how to repair it or is there a good shortcut?. and is it coming out of the tappet cover.Any help would be much appreciated.

What exactly are you referring to when you say tappet..? Do you mean the valve inspection caps near the top of the engine..? And welcome to the forum.

Hello all, new guy in the forum here. Just wanted to tell you all there is a plethora of information available on here, that is well organized. I have been working on my Uncles King Quad. My first dealings with an ATV top end rebuild. What I have gleaned from this site in the past few days is incredibly informative and detailed. Just this particular thread has been great! Thanks for sharing the info and have a cold one on Roguesman!

Just about to order new regulator for a 96 KQ 300.

Thanks to all contributors here on these forums. Especially thanks for posting what fixed your problems not just fixing these then running off leaving people in the dark like happens on so many other forums.

Thanks,
Stevie

Greetings, I am new to this forum / and quad owner. I have purchased 2 1991 King Quads( LT-F4WDX by Original Paperwork). These 2 beasts have sat in a barn for several years. I have cleaned and rebuilt 1 of the carbs, and now it takes a while to get running. The headaches are that now when you hit the throttle the RPMs respond and it takes quite a while for the idle speed to return. I am waiting on a new spring for the slide, and have put a very fine coating of Vaseline on the side of the slide. It seems to slide easier(smoother). I will try again and then if it isn't working better I am going to get some better grade of Carb/Choke cleaner and try it again. I just want to say that I am impressed with the information that is/has been shared by others in this thread. Thank You, it WILL be used by others. The second carb has been removed and it is a mess, the choke plunger was stuck so hard in the carb, I had to break the cable to remove the carb. I was able to finally get the plunger out of the carb, new plunger, choke cable are on their way. Just want to tackle one at a time.

Steve

i have the same problem

Hi i have the same problem but when i stick my hand in corroborator(with out the air filter) and pull up a slide thing it runs as good as a new four wheeler, but when i let go everything quits.

Welcome to the forum! Do you mean carburetor?

The same thing can be said for the fuel pump diaphragm and cause it to suck fuel through the vacuum line on it as well.
Care to explain these coincidences here:
