Been reading the forums and I appreciate all the great info!

I have a Eiger 400 that clicks once when pushing the starter button. Battery is fully charged. I pulled the seat and crossed the 2 wires off what I believe to be the silinoid, nothing happens.

Looks like I will need to replace the starter.

Question: anyone have a diagram where the starter is? I do not have the manual, second owner.

Any other feedback and suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks everyone!

Turn on the lights and push the button. If they go right dim the battery is depleted. If they go right out then there's a bad battery cable or ground, even if it seems tight! Loosen and move them anyway and retighten. If they stay full brightness and it clicks then the starter is bad or the solenoid isn't activating or conducting. Short the big wires on the solenoid. OK you did that. Check the big wire on the starter post too, loosen and retighten. make sure the starter is grounding too, surprisingly sometimes it doesn't.
Then donk the starter body with a hammer, brushes might be worn down or maybe one got hung up.

Follow the solenoid big wire to find the starter. Very rare they put it into a wire harness, usually it goes where it goes alone.

Just started looking through forums after being out in the shop my ltz has a click in the solenoid. I first checked all my connections loosened and re tightened. When I tapped my starter while pushing the start button rapidly I would variously get a slow crank on my starter plz help

You really don't need a schematic of where the starter is just pop the fairing off the side of the bike and you should be able to tell where it is just by looking it will only have 1 big wire going to it. The part that is circled in the picture below.

If you tap on the starter and the starter begins to function, generally, this is an indication that your starter has an issue. Tapping, banging on a starter is a test to determine if the starter is bad.
