Suzuki king quad sight glass issue

Hi
When taking the quad off the trailer I noticed an oil leak.
Close inspection showed the oil sight glass has become dislodged. It has moved inwards and all the oil has leaked out.
I don't have a manual for it and it looks like the whole crank case needs to be taken off to repair.
Anyone done one before and offer any advice. Eg repair kits, best procedure?
Cheers

I actually think that’s the first time I’ve ever seen a broken or dislodge sight glass before. And I’ve been here for 12 years. I would think to properly fix that you’d have to separate the crankcase Unless somebody else here has a different idea on how to fix that.

And you can get yourself a PDF version of a service manual on a site called Tradebit. They have various PDF style service manuals at a very reasonable price. Most manuals typically run somewhere between $10 - $20 depending on the manual. Well worth it. And welcome to the Forum.

Thanks. I'll look into the manual
Look to see if the sight glass is held in by a snap ring..

As Wally mentioned, clean the area around the sight glass and check for a snap ring. I would not recommend eliminating the glass. It serves a valuable purpose. If you see a snap ring, get some penetrating oil into that area, remove the snap ring, pull the glass and identify your problem.

Hi cheers
It doesn't look to be held on by anything at the moment. Thats the point its come loose. If there was a snap ring its on the inside in which case the crankcase will need to be split right?
I looked up my 1999 KQ 300's parts diagram and they don't show a snap ring (#2 on the diagram) 1999 Suzuki LT-F300F Crankcase Cover | Babbitts Suzuki Parts House
Thats helpfull .
I think its probably pressed in with some kind of really sticky washer. My guess would be that ia whats given up or even been pushed in by a stick ( what are the odds of that?)
Will try grabbing it with some blutack or something to see if I can reset it then maybe try resealing it in place. Worth a try before splitting the case I guess.
Cheers

Mine didn't pop out but it leaked. I used high temp rtv around it on the inside. I had the clutch cover off already. Hasn't leaked since. probably 2 or 3 years ago.
If i get around to it I'll dig out my Quadrunners old clutch cover and see how it's retained. Then post pics for future reference for other's who may have that problem.
