Did you try adjusting the shifter linkage to see if that helps..?

Won't be a clutch issue if it still goes forward as before, but just won't back up.
What does it do in reverse, just rev freely and go nowhere? Does it go into 'gear' properly and not drive or is it prevented from going into the reverse position?
What happened when it first stopped reversing? Was it backing up and bang, stopped going backward?
Details, need all the details if we are to tell what's going on, just saying 'reverse isn't working' is way too broad.

When I put it in reverse the red reverse indicator comes on and it just revs freely. Not really sure how it happened but high and low work fine and so does the 4x4

The override makes no difference here, it's just a way to raise the threshold of the spark scatter limiter so you get a bit more power when in reverse than if you werent pushing it..

Try this: In neutral, rev it until it's running a bit above idle and then holding that RPM, try to put it into reverse. If it rattles or 'grinds' then chances are the reverse shaft is broken or the shaft case bosses are broken, that's pretty big. If it just quietly goes into place and the red reverse light comes on then maybe the shifter fork has broken. Either way the quad should not just silently start acting like that, failure of reverse with no detectable event that started this behavior. There would have been a very noticeable event and it would almost certainly have had to come about as a result of high stress or 'abuse' while in reverse.
Anyone else but you ride the quad before this started happening?

Raising the RPM in neutral engages the CVT and therefor the transmission input shaft will be spinning. If the red reverse indicator comes on that means the sub transmission shaft is rotating properly and the internal shifter fork (12) ought to be be sliding to engage reverse gears in the range transmission.
So either part number 12 in the drawing linked below, is broken or the reverse layshaft or the case mount for that shaft are most likely broken, if forward gears work but reverse doesn't despite the light coming on.
