Well, no way to tell if I got all the way through, but I tried to get deep, and as you say, I did both sides. If I wasn't right through, then the mesh provided the extra strength that may otherwise have been missing. I watched a bunch of youtube videos first, and one guy actually used a heat gun as well, just to warm everything up a bit, to make it easier on his iron, but he wasn't using the blower for anything other than that. I have a heat gun, for hobby purposes, and it gets super hot, but even having watched that video, I decided against using it, because I thought it might make much larger areas saggy and soft, giving me less control of what was happening, and I might end up with some generalised deformation.

Yes, I see, focuses a jet, but not sure you could push it about as needed with that method. Of the multiple videos I watched of people doing it, none was using that tool, so I have no real clue how effective that would be, or how to actually use it. Hopefully there are videos out there?

As for filler rod, mine came with some too, black and clear and I used the clear. As I stirred it in, it went green anyway, as it mixed with the green from the bodywork itself. Not that it mattered, because I only added material to the inside, where I was using the mesh, and it cannot be seen.

A shop I once worked in had plastic welder like that. It was used to repair big plastic tanks. Did a great job. I'm liking the one you have more as I've a nice big soldering iron already and some stainless screen. Going to have to give it a try.
