Try checking for spark. Start your quad and let it run till it dies. Once it dies, pull the spark plug and reinsert it into the boot. Now ground it to something metal. Frame or engine block work best. Now crank the engine over. You should have a nice blue spark. If none is present or weak, then the coil is most likely your issue.

I had the same problem with my 160. It would run for about a mile, sputter and die. After about 5 min it would run again. I bought another 160 that’s ran great and swapped the carbs between them and was able to transfer the problem to the new 160. I bought a new carb from cheapcycleparts.com and now I have two working Quadrunners. I haven’t taken apart the old carb, but I suspect a chunk of the petcock filter is wedged in one of the orifices. Good luck!
