I am looking for some advice. I have a 2007 Z400, with a 434BBK, full yoshi exhaust, and no airbox lid (don't have it, never had it, gone before i got it).

I have played with jetting and i have gotten it to run better, but it still is not right. I know it is rich at idle, and possibly elsewhere. it doesn't free rev very well, but runs okay under load.

At this point i cannot remember what size my jets are, but i would really like a starting point idea, and if anyone has i good suggestion as to where I can get a selection of jets without buying individual ones, that would be great as well. It starts okay when cold, but harder as it heats up. will not stay running very well at idle either. Power seems to be fine though, used to bog or cut out, but that has pretty much stopped happening.

One thing I’d start off with is finding a airbox lid. Running without one will add to your difficulties in finding the correct settings.

Trying to figure out jetting without an air box lid and with a modified exhaust is going to be a huge challenge. If you were just dealing with a modified exhaust, it would be easy. Your going to have to play around and read your plug. No air box lid is a game changer when trying to find the correct jetting.

Unless someone has the EXACT same setup, devoid of a lid and with the same exhaust, your not going to get an accurate answer. Even then, if they haven’t really read that plug, it’s all up to interpretation . We haven’t even discussed the potential variant in that persons operating altitude and yours. Find a lid. That’s my best advice.

This. Yes. The voice of wisdom whispers in the wilderness.

Your bailing water from the Titanic with a Dixie cup while the band members play.
