KQ 750 vs 500 fuel useage?

Check your gauge against what you can actually put in the tank. I was awfully disappointed at the mileage my new '13 was getting compared to the old '05 until I tried a test, I rode it until the last gauge segment was blinking reliably, which should be fuel pump riskin' low on gas. Then took it to the gas station. I found that I was able to put just barely 13 liters into the tank, four short of its 17 liter capacity.
About an American gallon was still left in my 'empty' gas tank! Almost a quarter of its capacity.
It explained why my new quads gauge lost the first of six blocks in only 25 kilometers or so, far sooner than I was accustomed to.
Obviously the long float wire on the sending unit in the new ones gas tank has a different bend.

If your gauge is coming off 'full' in just 15 or 20 miles, get suspicious. You may be getting better mileage than you are being told. :)

that's exactly what i meant. i have no idea what the pump is like but really running out a few times shouldn't cause damage and if it does it's a very stupid design
Well, your EFI car or truck has the same stupid design of pump (some of them the exact same pump!) and it risks burning out if you run it dry, same as the quad. It's a hard working electric motor and needs the liquid it pumps to cool it.
Basically if you are pushing the limits and know you are low on gas and it starts to surge, shut it off! Catch it early and you have a better chance of not causing any harm. Try to nurse it for that last drop or mile and you might be in for a big bill. :icon_ cry:

Rocky Mountain ATV. Mine's ordered.

ps. billy's right, not much to choose between the 750 and the 500 mileage wise. After all, the chassis are the same, same workload, just the available power for accellerating and hill climbing is somewhat less on the smaller motor machines so the maker has lower final drive gearing to help compensate. Smaller motor, more fire strokes per distance traveled = not a great deal of savings fuel wise. Expected gas mileage shouldn't be a major decision maker when choosing what quad to get between these two.

I saw that, no shipping to Canada. I have such US purchases shipped to a receiver just across the border in the US, Ship Happens. 3$ per small package. I live close enough to the border to make it practical (@ 70 Km.)

Maybe there's something like that in Marysville? Beats Detroit. :D
