Hi new to forums i have an 2 issues with my 98 quadrunner 4X4 when you hold the throttle at a postion for to long it starts to backfire and then it clears up. if you ride it longer than 15 minutes when you kill it there is a gigantic backfire. So bad that if you shut it off at night there is about a foot blue flame shooting out of the tailpipe. I know this isnt good on it but i dont know whats wrong if anyone can help it would be very useful.

I have a '98 quadrunner 500. I too, have backfiring issues once in a while. I have run 93 octane in this bike since it was new. I think we both need to get a dynojet kit for them..

One thing you can try..... There are two drain plugs in the main muffler body. Take the bolts out and take it for a hell ride. This will blow all the carbon deposits out of it. It may help. Please post your results here.
