So I have a 2017 king quad 500 and it was stuck in 4wd diff lock. After pulling off the 4wd actuator I suspected that the motor in the actuator was bad. After replacing it I hooked a test light to the ground and tested the hot wire (blue wire),which had a light which proved power was getting to it. Then when I hit the 4wd button the light went out which showed the hot wire was no longer getting power. Same as when sliding it into diff lock. Then once the 4wd button is disengaged, power returns. Also when the 4wd button is pressed I hear a click in the relay. Is that normal ? Any ideas what could fix this issue ?
Side note, I was able to get the 4 wheeler to disengage the 4wd/diff lock after manually spinning the gears in the actuator.

So you shifted it with a wrench or something?
Did it shift smoothly or was it gritty and hard to turn?

Some people neglect front diff maintenance and if it is neglected and ends up low on fluid or gets dirt and water and rusts up things wont move smooth like they should. If you haven't changed the fluid i would drain it and see what it looks like. If it comes out looking good you should have no worries. If it comes out looking nasty with water and or dirt i would pull the front diff apart and inspect it for damage. It might not be engagingly because the motor cant muscle it into place because of galling/rust or dirt.
