I have a 2003 Eiger 400 and am in the process of putting the cylinder head back on. The question I have is, when lining up the Align mark on the generator rotor with the index mark on the crankcase, how do I know that this is TDC on the compression stroke and not the exhaust stroke(for spark purposes). When installing the camshaft and lining up the marks, it seems to me you would want it at the top of the compression stroke (when it sparks) and not on the exhaust stroke. There is no way to tell with the head off. It doesn’t get a spark at the top of both strokes, does it?

I can't offer any help with your question, yet, i'm not to that point. I do have a question for you though. I'm trying to get the cylinder head off and can't get the timing chain/sprocket away from the camshaft. I have the 2 bolts and keeper removed from the sprocket and camshaft but thats as far as i can get. I cannot find a master link. Please help.
