2006 Suzuki king quad secondary clutch

Thanks in advance for any info given, quad starts and runs great in neutral, try to shift into a drive gear, lunges and dies, took apart and cleaned primary clutch, seems to be working fine, secondary clutch is constantly spinning, cannot stop it with pressure from your foot, seems like it’s stuck and not engaging or disengaging. Any ideas as where to start looking at a solution to this problem?
Thanks

2006 Suzuki king quad secondary clutch

I am new to these type of clutches, does the one way bearing operate the secondary clutch? Drive belt stays tight, if u work with it it will eventually start operating as should, u can attempt to put it in reverse and go back to neutral, sometimes the secondary will start whirring and operate as should.

Thanks for the quick response

Would the brake cable have anything to do with the secondary clutch operation and shifting?

It acts like the secondary is engaged with the engine, I understand they shouldn’t spin until throttle is applied, I can put my shoe up against it in neutral running and it won’t stop??

Is the engine idling too high?

Update, checked everything this evening, secondary seems to be working as it should, the primary clutch is locking with the engine and running with engine, if u quick shift and go back to neutral it works as should for a bit, then locks back in by itself while idling, shut it off and it is locked with engine on restart. What would cause it to go from normal operation to locking and running at engine speed ? Wet clutch? One way bearing? Thanks

Sounds like the problem could be in the centrifugal clutch somewhere

Maybe one of the springs on the clutch shoes are broken or malfunctioning ( might have something stuck in it )....or one way is bad
