2007 KingQuad electrical wont turn on

Hi All,

I have a king quad that ran smoothly the past few years. I had trouble starting it this spring and I thought it was the battery so I replaced that. Worked fine for a few trips. Then I noticed the battery wasn't charging. Charged battery and none of the electrical systems came on when I put the ignition in aux, on position, etc. When I try to pull start, the electrical blinks while I'm pulling but it will not start. I was able to jump it about 5 times, but that won't work anymore. I checked the fuses under the seat and all of the electrical connections (that I could reach) and everything appears ok. Totally at a loss of what to do except for take off more panels and dive deeper into the wiring to check the connections and for shorts.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Jim

It almost sounds like you have a ground connection problem. Suggest using a digital volt meter or a test light. Check the ground connections. When checking the ground connect, put one of your leads to the positive post and then use the other to go check for power at different ground locations (ie bolts, engine case etc). If it's good. Then find a good ground location (bolt)(some place other than the battery). Measure the battery voltage, then start checking for battery voltage to the starter solenoid, to the ign switch and through it. And follow it from there. Suggest getting a wiring diagram for your atv.
I chased a burnt ground wire from one side across and up the other side all the way up to the coil under the front of an atv. Burnt and melted wires through out the entire wire harness. What kept this thing from burning up will never be known. The 2wire connector at the ign coil was a 1wire connector fried bad. If it blew the fuses, they were replaced previously.
