Belt slip?

2016 king quad 750 axi

Machine runs great! Besides the fact it seems as if the belt slips? Usually only happens when going up a hill or over 35 mph, or with excess strain while accelerating. All power to the throttle is lost making a loud fast ticking noise. I let go of the gas for a few seconds and it sounds like the rpms drop and it catches back up with its self. Letting me continue to accelerate.

Is the belt worn..? If not, try removing the belt and cleaning the clutches to see if that helps.

That doesn't sound like belt slip (it BARKS or SQUEALS when it slips)...sounds more like its popping slightly out of gear...check to see if you are 100% in H or L... that rapid tick tick tick is the sound of gears at the edge of engagement you get the same sound if you try to shift from N to H at too high a RPM...

Normaly I'd say if its not the belt I'd check the centrifugal clutch. The clutch dissengages at lower rpm. Most cvt quads use a centrifugal clutch so the belt isn't sitting there slipping at idle.

The clicking noise sounds more like a gear is only partially engaging and kicking out. Not sure how your quad is set up but most shift linkages I've dealt with are adjustable.
