750i King Quad battery charging

Bought my king quad about 5 months ago and battery does not start it any more. Called dealer and was told that the battery is not charged while unit is running it just has a rectifier to keep it from running down but they could sell and install a battery tender fro me to keep the battery charged. I thought this was BS, thoughts???

If your battery is not receiving a charge while the atv is running you most likely have a burnt out rectifier or regulator. In most cases it's probably the rectifier, but a simple test to see if your battery is charging is to simply take a volt meter and check the voltage of the battery when the bike is off then check it again when the bike is running. When your bike is off the voltage should be be around 12.4 volts or something around there. When the bike is running the voltage should read between 13.6 to 13.8 volts. If you aren't getting the 13.6 to 13.8 volts your rectifier is most likely shot. In that case you're best bet would be to probably purchase another rectifier and go from there. Hope this helps.

I talked to a 4wheeler dealer and repair shop and he was telling me he had a new Honda a guy was having problems with keeping a battery .The problem with this one was it was actually charging too much and burning or cooking the battery due to overcharging .I guess from everybody I talk to said to put a voltmeter on the battery and get someone to crank it and watch the voltage as it cranks and after it starts and then watch the voltage once you rev it up. Im having problems with mine but I havent had time to piddle withit yet.

There is an issue with the KQ charging systems and the ground to them Try this link...its should help you. I hope I allowed to post it. If not PM and I can give it to you. I have to run a extra ground on mine. It should have 13.8-14.0 volts on your battery while idling. You can check it with a volt meter. Full charge is about 12.8 volts on a battery. If you need any help PM me and I can give you my number. Again, this is a common issue on the KQ 700 & 750's.

Nyroc's ATV info website

I just had to run the ground on mine with 16 gauge wire to my negative post. It brought mine up from 12.8 to 13.9 volts at idle. Again, I hope its ok to post the link. Its just a tech tip. Some are ground bad to the frame. I run a Yuasa Battery on mine and its the best battery I have found.

Yes your allowed to post that Bootlegger, I was lucky enough to not have to run an additional ground on mine and yes the Yuasa battery is awesome because I can run my stereo I have on mine for about 1.5 hours without it draining it down.

No problem as long as it is tech/ATV related links are fine, you just can't be posting porn links.
