my son ran it out of gas now it wont start its not getting gas is it vapor locked ? how do i fix it?

I doubt it's vapor locked but anything is possible. You might have picked up some trash possibly in your carb when you reached the bottom of the tank. But to be sure try this test first and see if you can at least get the bike to catch periodically for a few seconds at least. First pull the plug and either pour a very little amount of gas or use a small amount of starter fluid down the spark plug hole, then re-insert the plug and try and start the bike. Make sure you have gas in your tank also, the hope is with the added boost of either gas or starter fluid in the cylinder it will catch and remain running. If it does catch but quickly dies you may have a clogged jet in the carb. Also, are you running a fuel filter..? If so check that to make sure it isn't clogged up. Try that first and let me know how it goes. And welcome to the forum.

Its going to take some cranking because the petcock is vaccum operated.Try ajl79s suggestion.

Yeah, priming it will speed up the process of getting gas to the carb for sure.
