250 quadrunner electrical problems

I wonder has anyone had these kind of symptoms. I attempted to start this bike which is an 87 250. The ground wire on the coil is melted along with the hot wire. I traced back the two wires from the CDI box and replaced them. Now the neutral light wont come on. This bike has been sitting up for quite a while and we are just trying to get it running again. I suspect some type of short somewhere that was causing the melted wires to begin with. CDI bad? some other relay? thanks...

I'm having the same problem. Everything was fine, disconnected the battery to install an new fuel pump, now everything is dead....no neutral light, getting no attempt to start...just dead as doornail. The headlight comes on, but that's it, and the new fuel pump comes on.... Did you get yours fixed and what was it?
