Suzuki 700 King quad

Hi, quad will not charge, switch lights on and engine cuts out, any ideas, been told to change the regulator/rectifier,cheers

First thing I'd do is clean the battery terminals/cables.

A bad battery will not take a charge.

Had it checked, but the guy cannot tell me if its the stator or the regulator/rectifier, the rectifier is an easy fix, but the other is more difficult & expensive,

I would guess the rectifier.
