Unhappy Gas in Crankcase

I have a 1989 LT-F4WD 250 cc and several years ago gas started getting into the oil. I cleaned the carb and replaced the needle valve and seat. This did not solve the problem. I seems that the gas is getting into the oil when it is sitting as if I turn the fuel off when not in use the oil level stays constant.
Motor starts and runs good just the oil gas in the oil problem.
Has anyone had this problem? Any solutions? The service place said the nnedle valve would be the problem. $50+ for a new one did not seem to solve my problem.

So are you saying that when you turn the fuel off gas doesn't get in the oil?

Now I cannot say that no gas does not get into the oil, but it sure cuts it down considerably. It can sit a week with the gas off and will start up very easily so I have trouble believing that the needle valve was leaking. To start as easily as it does the carb must have plenty of fuel. Before prior to shutting the gas off I would have to change the oil every month or so. When I put in the new needle valve I checked the float level and it seemed to be correct as per manual. I use the quad very little maybe put 100 to 150 miles a year.

Hey guys, I need help again, yesterday I tried to start the 1997 king quad 300 and it backfired really really loud, and i tried to start it again, and it started pouring oil out of a hose in the back, we changed the oil and it was full of gas, how do i stop this from happening. I am not trying to be rude by asking a question on someone elses forum, but I cant find out how to make my own. lol

gas in the oil

I know this is a old post but did anyone ever fig. out how the gas was getting into the oil ????

There are 2 ways fuel can contaminate the oil. The first way this can happen is if the float in the carb stays stuck in the open possition when the bike isn't running. When this occurs fuel will flow until it overflows into the crankcase thus contaminating the oil.

The second way this can happen is if the fuel petcock diaphragm goes bad, when this happens fuel continues to flow until it again overflows into the crankcase thus contaminating the oil. To check this you need pull the vacumm line off the petcock, if the line is full of fuel or fuel comes out of the petcock when the bike isn't running then the fuel petcock is usually bad.

its the petcock, checked it yesterday and had gas in the vac. so now its time to find a new one i guess lol
